warm tater tot casserole

hi!


it's my first recipe post.


this morning when i was taking our pup for a walk, i swear to you, it was snowing on him. it is CHILLY outside. i finally turned on the heat. justin will be so happy. but, back to the walk. i was walking him outside in my winter parka and it came to me. i need to make something that is warm, hearty and delicious for dinner.


so, that prompted me to make tater tot casserole. this was a long time family favorite in my house growing up, but for some reason, i never made it myself after i moved out! i have only made this one time for justin and to my surprise, he asked me just the other day, "when are you going to make that tater tot casserole stuff again?"


*que the open mouth stare*


he has NEVER asked me to make something that was new to him and a recipe that i ate as a child, again because he loved it. i mean, we talk about what sounds good and normally we end up making either chicken parmesan or his mom's chicken and rice (my favorite dish), but he doesn't ever request something like this because he loves it.


needless to say, i was very excited and felt confident in my #domesticprincess abilities. i will definitely be making it for him again. :)



here is what you'll need:


-1 lb of ground beef (i use 93% lean, but any kind that you have or like, will work)

-1 10.5 oz can of cream of chicken (growing up we used cream of mushroom, which i love, but

justin does not. but cream of chicken is just as delicious)

- 1 can of organic green beans (optional)

-1 16-20 oz bag of frozen tater tots (use as much as you like, any brand you like)

-1-2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese (we use a lot of cheese in this house) **

-salt and pepper to taste


how you whip it up:


preheat your oven to 375 degrees.

cook your ground beef just as you usually would with whatever spices you like. salt and pepper your ground beef to taste.

grease whatever casserole dish you have on hand and add your cooked ground beef and then add your can of cream of chicken or cream of mushroom and mix your meat and soup up.

if you chose to add green beans, put this in now. (i only put it on half when i make it because the dude does not like veggies).



top it off with all the tater tots in the world

stick er in the oven for 30ish-40ish minutes uncovered to get all that browned tater tot goodness.


take it out, add ALL of the shredded cheddar and put it back in the oven until it gets the ooey, gooey, bubbly cheese action goin on and then ENJOY.

** i bought a block of cheese because that is what we prefer and i just shredded this while the casserole was baking. also, hope your pup loves frozen tater tots as much as mine! :)
